One minute friends

a flood of sun lies lazy on the beach
my transistor’s baked by boredom on the sand
i’m sipping coke and hear the people speak
yesterday we won the football match

a drowsy sea is sipping at the sands
seagulls hover above a fishing boat
a cooling wind comes covering sun-burnt men
the scent of sun-oil and drying swimming suits

i wake up see your smile
that’s so easy to understand
see some love in your eyes
feel the heavens that you send
then we laugh for a while
one minute friends

the sun sets people dress and walk away
children begging for a last icecream
a silent sauntering on the promenade
the night comes and the beach falls in a dream
